Dynamic IP setup on a Linksys BEFSR41 using dyndns.org |

This document is provided as a reference and guide, and is subject to inaccuracies out of EL-USA's control 1. First you must make sure that the DVR can connect to the Internet and you have Winzip or some type of unzip utility. 2. Go to http://www.dyndns.org 3. Left click on the “Sign-up Now” link. 4. Fill out the form; you must give a valid email address so that you can confirm the account setup. 5. Once the account is confirmed you will log in to the site with the email address and password that you just entered. 6. Once you’re logged in to the site you will find “Services” at the top of the screen in the yellow bar. 7. On the right hand side you will see “DNS Services” left click on this link. 8. Left click on “Dynamic DNS ”. 9. Left click on “Add Dynamic DNS ” 10. Enter the “Hostname”. It should be something that is easy to remember. 11. Select the Domain name from the pull down list. 12. Left click on “Add Host” 13. Now open a new Internet Explorer window and connect to the Linksys Router web interface. Default web address is http://192.168.1.1 14. Enter the username and password to access the router . 15. In the blue bar you should see “DDNS” left click on this link. 16. From the pull down menu select “DynDNS.org” 17. Fill in your username, password, and complete hostname, like elusademo.dyndns.org. 18. Left click on “Save Settings” link. 19. Check the status to make sure that it does not say “DDNS server is currently closed.” 20. After 5 minutes you should be able to use the host name to connect to the DVR , if the router is configured correctly with port forwarding. ©2007 Electronics Line |
