Daylight Saving Time (DST) 2007-?

Beginning in March 2007, DST in affected geographical regions will begin three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than in previous years. This change will effect many electronics in your home and business, and your Electronics Line USA Digital Video Recorder is no exception.

To address this issue, Electronics Line USA would like to provide the following information in an effort to continue providing the best support in the industry.

PC Based DVRs : ETV, ETV Lite, ETW, ET Models

A patch, or small executable piece of software, has been made available from the Electronics Line USA FTP Site for easy download to correct Daylight Saving Time in Windows2000, WindowsXP, and embedded WindowsXP DVRs . In older (3+ years) ET and ETW systems that are running Windows98, the changes must be made manually at this time.

How to determine your version of Windows

  • Exit the DVR software to the windows desktop:

    • ETV: Login with an administrator account, and click the EXIT button in the top left of the toolbar. Press YES to the popup asking if you are sure you wish to exit. Note: If the only options are Restart, Shutdown, and Cancel, the ETV is in KIOSK mode. You will need to go into Settings | DVR Settings | Startup and uncheck “Restart in Kiosk Mode”. Apply and OK that change to restart the DVR without KIOSK mode.

    • ETW: Click the large silver button in the bottom right of the window and enter an administrator username and password.

    • ET: From live screens, press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F4.

  • Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and left-click Properties.

  • The version will be identified on the right side under System.

Windows2000, WindowsXP, embedded WindowsXP
  • Grab the patch from below (see attached files)

    • OR
  • Download the patch by going to this URL/address: FTP://FILES.EL-USA.COM
Login with username daylight and password daylight.

  • Here you will find a PDF file with information on how to run the patch, as well as the patch itself, DaylightSavingFix.exe

  • Download both of these files. The patch is small enough to fit on a standard Floppy Disk, USB Drive, or CD-R so it can easily be brought to DVRs that are not networked. Note: Current ETV DVRs do not have a floppy disk drive, thus carrying the patch in at least 2 forms would be beneficial.

  • Follow the instructions in the PDF file to install the patch.

Windows98
  • Exit the DVR software as described above in How to determine your version of Windows.

  • Move the mouse to the bottom-right of the screen and the digital system clock should appear. Double left-click on the clock to bring up the Date and Time Properties.

  • Click on the Time Zone tab. If you have selected a region that uses Daylight Saving Time here, you will see a check box at the bottom, “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes.” Uncheck this box and click Apply and OK.

  • At this point, it will be necessary to manually adjust the time on March 11th forward 1 hour, and then backward 1 hour on November 4th.

Embedded DVRs : ETM, 431RW, 411(UN)

Embedded DVRs all handle Daylight Saving Time differently. However, in all cases the adjustment will have to be made manually (forward an hour on March 11th , and then backward 1 hour on November 4th). The procedures are as follows:

ETM-60

Enter the Menu | Date/Time and change option 4. DST to OFF. Then adjust the time manually. When completed making adjustments, press Menu to save the changes, Enter to say Yes to a restart, and enter the password to finalize the restart.

ETM-120 (with and without a CDRW)

Neither of these models supports an automatic Daylight Saving Time adjustment. You will need adjust these manually at the appropriate time using Menu | System | Time.

431RW

While there is no automatic adjustment for Daylight Saving Time on the 431RW, there is an option under Menu | System | Date/Time for Daylight Saving. When this is turned ON, the DVR will automatically add 1 hour to the current time. When this is turned back to OFF, 1 hour is subtracted. No direct adjustment of the time is necessary if you use this option.

411(UN)

All adjustments will need to be made manually via Menu | Sub Menu | Time Set.
