Remote Client displays 'Timeout' when trying to connect

Possible causes:
General
  • Maximum connections exceeds four (4). When a fifth person attempts to connect, the connection will Timeout.
  • DVR is off
  • Network cable is unplugged at the DVR
  • IP address conflict with another device on the network
  • Firewall in place blocking connection to the DVR
  • DVR 's IP address set by DHCP (Dynamic IP) and has changed
  • Firewall on local computer blocking connection
Offsite connection (i.e. over the internet)
  • Port forwarding not done/incorrect (see Related Articles)
  • External (public) IP address has changed
